My friend Perry and I saw this Earth Station on our drive out to South Point. On our way back we noticed the dish had moved, then while we were debating weather to knock on their door the dish moved again. This is a big deal for us. The satellite dishes we normally use are almost "fixed." Once we set up the dish doesn't move until we are done. This dish was curious and moving all the time. |

We decided to call them on the phone and we were invited up to the control room. Pictures were not allowed in the control room. This is the southern most satellite station on US soil. This gives them a really good view of satellites over the Pacific Ocean. This station tracks LEO (Low Earth Orbit) satellites. They track the shuttle, space station, satellites that have just been launched, weather satellites, and other "special" satellites. This was a fun diversion. |
