hilton sunrise
I thought I would start the tour of the city with one of the last pictures I took in Kuwait.  This is the sunrise at the hotel on the day I left.

house
Most of the houses in Kuwait looked similar to this one.  They almost all had a water tank on top, at least one satellite dish, and several air conditioner units around the place.  Most places were this aggressively boring color, of stone and cement.  The occasional red tile roof was a welcome break to the normally flat roof.

apartment buildings
These are apartment buildings, I think.  notice the catchy tan color.  Palm trees were common here and parking was where ever you could find it.

city scape
This is the skyline from my hotel window.  Notice palm trees and sandy color.  I have very little idea of where in Kuwait I was .  I do know that Kuwait City is about 30 minute drive north and the town of Fahaheel was just next door to the south.

fahaheel sign
All the road signs are in Arabic and English.  Most of the local people speak English well enough talk to me.

burger king ad
Does this advertisement look familiar?

Kuwait towers
On my last night in Kuwait I managed a quick trip the Kuwait City.  I stopped at the Kuwait towers.  The main function of these towers is to hold water.  The 2 large balls hold one million gallons of water each.  The smaller upper ball on the right hand tower is a restaurant, rotating cafe, and viewing platform.  The smaller thinner tower lights up the tow big towers.

tower inside
Of course I went up inside the tower.  Inside was like walking around inside an insects eye.  The view for up here was incredible but didn't photograph well for me.

ugly picture
There were many pictures like this around the viewing area.  This is what the Iraqis did to the tower during their occupation of Kuwait.

last look at tower
One last look at the tower and the light tower.
