On our way south we crossed the Tropic of Capricorn again.  Because this crossing is on a bigger road, the monument is bigger.

In my journeys across Australia I saw many statues and this is another.  This one is partly famous I am told.  Well I liked it any way.  This is the Rockhampton Bull.  If you look closely you can really tell that it is a bull.  This amused me.

This is the Longhorn Cattle Station, it is just south of Rockhampton.  This is the original homestead and the grandson of ----- runs the place and still lives in the same house.  It was a bit odd to be invited into their house but the homestead and the grounds are going into the tourist business as well as cattle.  The cattle are brahmas.  I don't remember how many they had but there were lots.

After we saw the cattle and the house it was time for morning tea.  This was one of the best tea breaks we had.  The ----'s bakes several fresh cakes and breads and even a piping hot damper.  Damper is a fairly dense bread baked in a Dutch oven buried in the coals of the fire.  It was all very delicious.  With the smell of food the pet kangaroo came around for a little nibble.  Well a nibble from Paul, a nibble from me, a nibble from Kathrine, and a nibble from just about anyone else who would share.
