LAX and the trip over

June 19 I arrive at the airport a mere 3 hours early.  My ride had to go directly to work after depositing me at the airport.  With plenty of time to spare, I cleared the check-in and the security check point with 2 and a half hours to kill.  I wandered about terminal 3 for awhile, played some cards with some people headed to St. Louis, and of course found an outlet and played computer games.

Knowing full well I had nothing but time to kill at LAX and with my bags being checked clean through to Australia, I set out on a little trek.  I had heard that there was an In-N-Out Burger right near the airport, so I set out for a double double.  After a 20 minute walk down the street, I was ordering food and sitting outside eating my all fresh burger watching planes land about a block away.  If you have a 4 hour layover in LAX I highly recommend this little excursion.

in-n-out

After enjoying this last American meal I wasted another hour or two plugged into the only wall outlet at LAX gate 120.  After sitting on the ground and taxiing around the tarmac for and hour, we began our 14.5 hour flight to Sydney.  I remember watching Monsters Inc. on the plane and having some sort food.  Outside of that, the little plane on the little map seemed to stall out and not move across the ocean.  I finally made it to Sydney at 9 am on Saturday morning and began to explore.
