Well here it is the picture everyone that comes to Australia to take. Ayers
rock at sunset. The aboriginal name is Uluru and is the exact same
rock as Ayers rock. Of course I had to get my picture take in
front of the rock. The two cute ladies are Samantha in the gray hat
and Amy in black hat. Next we have Hedi and Ben. Ben is holding
his ski mask or balaclava. His mom insisted he wear a hat to reveal
his face so he looks a bit grumpy.
The next morning we watched to sunrise at the rock. I have 3 rolls
of film from sun set, sun rise, and aerials that I will post when I get the
film processed. After the sun rise Many people in the group were ready
for the hike to the summit of Ayers Rock. The trail was closed due
to high winds. We bodged around for several hours hoping the trail
would open but the winds kept on blowing. The picture right below the
closed sign shows what we could see of the trail. The white strip is
the trail and along its length was merely a chain the grab on to. It
looked like quite a strenuous climb but well worth it. In lieu of climbing
up I took a walk around. The group picture is all of us going to look
at some rock art drawings in a cave around the base of the rock. On
the other side we saw this formation called the brain.
The end of our second day at Uluru found Nina and I once again in an airplane
for an aerial view. Here is Nina in the plane and Uluru out the window.
