Adelaide
June 24, 2002
Here is another panoramic photo I stitched together from the city of Adelaide.
We are in the Montefiore Hill over the city. Prominent in this
picture are the Cricket grounds where all the light poles are and a bit of
the grandstands to the right of that arch-looking thing in the conference
center. You may also notice some of the digital bloopers I don't know
how to fix yet, such as the light station at the fields and Colin's upper
torso. Well, the panoramic is fun but still a few kinks to work out.
The rest of the day we had lunch downtown and then checked into our hotel
rooms! After 2 nights of camping, a hotel was the best sleep. I
also had a chance to wash some clothes and Nina and I ran around town looking
for an internet cafe. We were successful in checking the mountain of
junk e-mail, but I had some problems posting the page.
Being in a real city, we decided to go out and have a real dinner. This
was the full moon that night. Looks good with a confused digital camera,
but trust me, it was impressive. We even had moon shadows!
The five of us, Nina, Samantha, Amy, Nic, and I went over to Glenelg. None
of my pictures came out in Glenelg, but that just leaves more to the imagination.
The Trolley ride for $5.70 round trip was well worth it. The conductor
in this photo was the same guy who sold us tickets on the way out to dinner.
He was more than happy to see us again, but he stood still for the
picture. After a great Italian dinner (where a server brought the food
TO US rather than us fending for ourselves, and even cleaned up after us
when we left) we walked out to the end of the Glenelg pier. The pier
was quite cold and windy and by now it was 10pm and we were getting tired.
It was 11pm when we got back to the hotel and slept very well in a
bed.
