This is the Sandia Peak Tramway in the Sandia Mountains. above
This is the longest passenger tramway in the world with a horizontal length
of 2.7 miles. The car pictured here is crossing the 3rd longest clear
span in the world. This stretch is from the top of the mountain (left
side) and tower 2 (upper right) is 1.5 miles with nothing underneath.
The tram takes about 15 minutes to get from the top to the bottom.
To the left is the view of Albuquerque at night after the sun went down.
I took some pictures when the sun was up but the skies were a bit hazy
and they didn't look to good. To the right is me on top of the mountain.
The Mosquito Festival shirt is from by trip to Minnesota. I took
a 1.5 mile walk from the tram terminal out to lookout point where I met
a friend from England and he took this picture. We walked back to
the terminal down the dirt path in the dark. That was no too much
fun. When we got back we had a $5 beer at the High Finance Reastarunt
at the top on the mountain. We would have had dinner but felt a bit
out of place because everybody in there wore jackets and ties and each
entre was about $25 each so we took a miss on that.
